She gets really enthusiastic about crawl, actually she just gets plain crazy whenever she's back side down on carpet.
Last night I threw in trying to get her to stand with her back feet on a book, which eventually will end up being a doggie handstand. That one was difficult, no matter how much I lured her she did not want to put those feet on there! she put her front feet on it & also tried scratching it to death and chewing on the edge. LOL. I did manage to get her to put her feet on it a few times, but it wasn't enough to get her to understand what I wanted.
So next I'm going to try to teach her back up first, then I'll have her back up ONTO the book. I might also add in stuff on the sides, so she has to go back & can't swing her little butt to the side. ( LOL i've seen this same idea done with mini horses to start to accept tight quarter stuff like carts & trailers.
I really love kikopups videos, I only wish Zoey could be as awesome as Splash. But who knows, maybe with training alot more frequently we might impress ourselves!!
The first big trick session I did, i made sure to keep everything mixed up, ALOT, Zoey gets bored FAST. And I know that if I keep 'drillling' her on one thing it almost seem slike punishment. So on each trick I'd only ask her to do it maybe 3-5 times, then I would go to the next thing, and of course there was some tennis ball thrown in too.
I need to work on stays & go to your mat also, and RECALLS! I've slacked so bad on those - mostly because I NEVER let her off leash. but she needs to know them. so I gotta put those on the list. basically I need to get more organized about what I want to teach her & to make sure i have the steps on how I'm going to go about it. Lots of brainstorming & youtube vid watching!
The next thing i'm doing to help me stay on track & keep things spiced up for Zoey is I've listed all the tricks/tasks she knows or I want to teach her on a piece of paper. I'm going to cut each on out on a little strip. Then I'll put all of them in a hat & draw a few each day. That was I'm not stuck in a rut trying to drill a task into her everything. I think she'll like the variety & the surprise. I also want to keep a log, so I can analyze if one task is getting left out.
so thats my plan! woot!
