Started on the chicken tractors paint job, not done yet. but this is what it looked like on Sunday :)

This was the state of the tractor on night #2
I honestly did not feel like building a nest box, so I found an old drawer from a dresser that fit perfectly!

The next day I added some sides and started on painting it.
Then I added the first roost
Today I cut the other two sides, painted them and caulked the entire interior of the coop, as well as any holes or imperfections in the siding. I want this tractor to last a long time, so i went a little crazy with the weather proofing!
As you can see I added the door ( it has weather striping and everything!), I put the roof on, but it doesn't have it's hinges yet. My main goal today was to have the chickens sleep in it tonight.

I slapped a coat of paint on the  outside, bright blue, I have a theme going, but you don't get to see until I'm finished!  Tomorrow my friend and I will finish up the paint job, hopefully get the roof hinges on, maybe attach the wheels, then I'm good to go until my run hardware shows up. It least the girls have a nice place to sleep. I would imagine it's warmer than the patio!!

The girls have a fairly good sized coop & run, but they free range, so they can come and go out of the coop as they please. Recently they've chosen to roost on the patio - so that tells me that there's something out hanging out in the coop area that they do not like. I've been wanting to build them a nice tractor for a long time. I finally found one that I love. As in it seems easy enough for me to make.
I'm really excited, it looks really light, I've built two tractors previously and they both were way too heavy. I'm building this one out of 2x2's.

I started on it tonight and got to use my kreg jig for the first time. It's pretty awesome!!
I extended the back so the wheels have more room to be mounted, I also used some 90 degree braces on the uprights to make it a bit more sturdy. So far it's really light!!

This coop is also going to have an awesome paint job, I'm not going to give anything away yet. But I have some hilarious ideas.
